About WFRC
Welcome! The Wake Forest Running Club is an organization founded on the true love for all things running. The WFRC is a young club, having only been founded a couple of years ago. Nevertheless, the club has grown immensely since its beginning and continues to achieve various accomplishments. There are 2 sides to WFRC: the recreational side and the competitive side. Many students enjoy running and want to stay in good shape, but do not always have a buddy to do so with. The recreational side of running club provides a solution to this problem: Monday through Thursday at 4, we all meet by the track and form groups to go on fun runs with. No matter the athletic level, people always find someone to run with. The competitive side of running club is a completely optional, but very exciting opportunity. Similar to a cross country team, the Wake Forest Running Club has a competitive team of men and women who train and travel to various meets throughout the fall semester to compete against other university running clubs. These races are usually 8k's for men and 5-6k's for women. You can look at our race schedule page for a full list of races we have done this year, but some examples include races at UNC, UVA, and Hershey, Pennsylvania. These races are usually coordinated through NIRCA, the National Intercollegiate Running Club Association (http://www.clubrunning.org/). Also, both the competitive members and the non-competitive members often run in various road races throughout the entire year, like in the local Mistletoe Half Marathon. So no matter your skill level, if you want to compete, get in shape, or just have a buddy to run with, please do not hesititate to come join us! Contact anyone on the executive board for more information.
